NEW: ADULT APPRENTICESHIP & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

This 35-week program (April 12/10 - December 10/10) is an 8 credit Manitoba High School Diploma program offered in partnership with Manitoba Adult Learning & Literacy and the Seven Oaks School Division.  The training includes a life skills and cultural awareness component in addition to the full high school curriculum.  All students participate in a full course work load and are required to attend Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.

ADULT EDUCATION & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM:

This 44-week (August 30/10 – June 17/11) training program is delivered in partnership with the Province of MB and Seven Oaks School Division.  This program will allow you to obtain a Mature Grade 12 Diploma.  There are excellent employment and post-secondary opportunities!

Scotiabank Canada, in partnership with Urban Circle Training Centre Inc., is proud to offer the Scotiabank Scholarship for Business Studies for two qualifying students in the Adult Education and Employment Program. Each Scholarship is valued at $4000 and will be awarded to students who will have completed a Mature Grade 12 Diploma by June, 2010 and will have successfully enrolled at a registered Canadian post-secondary institution in Business Studies, including any one of the following areas: Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, IT, computer Programming, Marketing, Human Resources. Students will have a genuine interest in pursuing a career with Scotiabank. The recipients of the scholarships will be selected by the teachers at Urban Circle Training Centre and a representative from Scotiabank. Applications will be available to students February 1, 2010. Deadline for Applications is June 1, 2010.





HEALTH CARE AIDE/HEALTH UNIT CLERK TRAINING PROGRAM:

This 44-week (August 30/10 – June 17/11) training program is dually-certified by Red River College and is delivered in partnership with Health Sciences Centre.  There are excellent employment opportunities upon completion of the program.  This course is a “stepping stone” into health care field.

PARA EDUCATOR (Teacher Assistant) PROGRAM:

This 44-week program (July 19, 2010 - May 6, 2011) training program is certified by Red River College. This program offers specialized training to work with special needs students.  This training is in high demand in all school divisions and there are excellent job opportunities upon completion of the program.  This course is a “stepping stone” to a Bachelor of Education degree.

FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER/FASD PROGRAM:

This 47-week (January 25-December 17, 2010 ) Family Support Worker Certified Program is dually-certified by Red River College and is delivered in partnership with Neighbourhoods Alive! and Manitoba Metis Federation. There are excellent employment opportunities upon completion of the program.  This course is a “stepping stone” into social work field. Seats are now filled for this program year!

  • Must be Aboriginal descent (First Nations, Treaty, Status, Non-Status, Metis, Inuit, etc.)
  • Must have a funder (Employment & Income Assistance, Employment Insurance, Band/Council/MMF Funding, etc.) in place to provide your personal cost of living. All funding must be approved by the worker/counselor. All tuition costs and supplies are provided by the program funders
  • Must submit school transcripts to demonstrate a completed education level of Grade 11 and have some experience working with children in a family setting OR equivalent combination of related education in this field and work experience
  • Must successfully complete a prescribed reading skills test at the required competency level administered on site at Urban Circle Training Centre
  • Agreement to provide a current & acceptable (within 6 months) criminal record check and child abuse registry check when applying to the program
  • Must be willing and available for shift work and have ability to arrange flexible childcare for employment
  • Must demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Must be in good health
  • Having an Aboriginal language and/or knowledge of Aboriginal customs, beliefs and practices is an asset
  • Valid Manitoba Drivers License and access to a vehicle is an asset
